2nd Paper Proposal

For the second paper, I'd like to show the change that Updike was trying to bring about in Rabbit, Run. I feel that Updike was trying to show a change in a reader who may have troubles and has ideas of running away from them. Updike wanted to show that running away from your problems only creates more problems. I also wanted to discuss the literal sense of Rabbit, Run if that's okay. In one of my previous posts, I had remarked how I wished authors wrote a book to describe a true life situation instead of hinting at something else. I just wanted to discuss how much different this book would be had the meaning been more literal.

Comparing the literary meaning and the "real life" meaning sounds good.
