In Cold Blood #1

I am also about half way through In Cold Blood right now. This is also my second time reading it. I read it a few years ago. I had forgotten just how gruesome it was.

I think it is interesting how the book goes back and forth between “real life” and literature. It is difficult to distinguish sometimes if what Capote is saying is his interpretation or strictly fact. Certain parts will read just like a story, and then others just like a police report. I guess how Capote intertwined the facts with his observations is what makes it interesting. It is as if you also have to work it out in your head as well just to make sure it all adds up.

One aspect I do not like about Capote’s writing is that some details just seem trivial and too lengthy.

I enjoyed the book the first time around. But this time I just can’t decide if I like it. I think partly because of what happened to Tiffany I feel differently about this novel now. I remember when I saw her murderer on T.V it just gave me chill bumps all over. I’ll be honest, I think this book is scary.
