Paper 1 Proposal

For my first paper, I plan to investigate how the medias portrayal of an event, in this case a crime, can alter society's opinion and evaluation of it. I will also relate this to the novel In Cold Blood as I believe it's interesting how Capote's portrayal of the two characters is very different and leads you to believe different things about each one even though they share the same heinous crime. I also plant to investigate how different political stances of authors and reporters can lead to how they tell a story in the media.
