Paper #2 Proposal

I would like to use the novel Rabbit, Run to discuss the question concerning why authors write and if they have a purpose in their writing. In my paper I would like to discuss Updike’s purpose in writing Rabbit, Run. I think Updike wanted his audience to see that you cannot run from your problems. Also, I think Updike wanted readers to see the consequences for Rabbits actions, that what he did not only affected himself but also those closest to him. I also think that society perhaps had an effect on his choosing to write this novel.
