Rabbit, Run post 3

Brad's post brought up a very good point about the difference in writing between Capote and Updike. I believe that both of them did add a lot of detail to the writing. However I felt that Updike did slow his story down by adding so much detail. I struggled at times reading because I would know what was going to happen next but I felt like I had to read a whole page or two of detail just to get to something minor to happen. I just find that to slow down my reading process. Brad also brought something that I hadn't noticed when he talked about how Capote seemed more personal. Obviously this is due to the fact that Capote had developed a relationship with those involved with the story and since they were real characters. Updike, while he may have felt a connections, could never be as connected due to the fact that his characters were developed in his own mind. Rene also brought up a fact that Capote seems like a report. It is a good point, however the details that Capote includes make it seem like a story to me, and not as much a report.
