I agree with Jessie in that nobody could ever know the exact purpose of a writer as they are writing. To an outsider, someone who does not know the author, it would seem that personal experiences are a major possibility that would urge someone to write a book. I agree that it could possibly be a combination of experiences, dreams, and problems. Naturally, a writer would want his readers to somehow connect to the protagonist so their experience in reading the book will be enhanced.
