Response to Jessica's Junebug post

I agree and disagree with you on this one. I hated the movie first of all because there was no ending. All the characters drove me crazy with there seeming stupidity. I have been born and raised in the south, and I felt like it was saying that those that come from small towns in the south are not as smart as those in the north. I can't remember the names of the characters, but the girl who owned the art gallery was from the north and seemed so smart and sophisticated. The rest of the southern family just seemed like they had missed it. I did like how the movie related to real life. There isn't always a resolution to problems; sometimes you just have to get over things and move on. I do wish that we could have known what they were thinking though. It makes me slightly appreciate books more because you know what they are thinking most of the time when you read a book.
I still say that the reason we were supposed to read this book was so that we won't try to use spark notes or whatever to get through the class.
