Paper #1 Proposal
I plan on related In Cold Blood to recent murders in Iraq. In particular, but not limited to, the media portrayal of four soldiers responsible for raping a young Iraqi woman and murdering her and her family. Iraqis responded by beheading two American soldiers.
I have, so far, found a few articles of the problems in Iraq that detail some of possible punishments as well as vague details as of what occured. In one article detailing the events, the beheading is mentioned almost as an afterthought towards the bottom of the article. I want to try and show a relationship between the way Capote wrote In Cold Blood, specifically his portrayal of the murderers Perry and Dick, and the way our current media portrays the soildiers and Iraqis who murder and kill civillians and soldiers alike.

This sounds **very** interesting. You may want to see if the practice of "embedding" reporters has any effect on the coverage that we're getting.
