Paper #1 Proposal

In my paper I plan to look into the fact that this book, while it may seem that the main story is about the Clutter family and their murders, does not seem to have a main character or a specific focus on one person; however, the author does seem to focus more on Perry Smith than any other character in the book. The way Capote protrays Perry makes the reader almost feel bad and sympathize with him and forget the fact that he did indeed assist in the murder of four innocent people. Throughout the book, we never quite hear the story from one person, it's as if the story comes from a group of people instead of one person.

So will you paper be about the relationship between the narrator and Perry? That would be interesting, I think. You might want to see what you can find about the relationship between journalists and their subjects as well.
