Sunday post

I can certainly sympathize with Emily's frustration with the level of detail that Capote writes with. The thing that keeps me sane when trying to dechipher a hyper-detailed book like this or Faulkner is to remind myself that this style is what makes the book worth reading in the first place. We have to remind ourselves that these works are classics that have stood the test of time, and each writers individual style and each stories unique plot twists and characters are what makes them great. I try not to regard these works exclusively as assignments, but rather as a source of entertainment.
