I liked what James Crawford had to say about the movie Junebug. He made some good points about conflict and resolution. It was definitely a slow movie, but the way the conflicts within the family were portrayed was interesting. Like Jason said, today’s movies and texts are usually filled with conflict to keep the viewer or reader’s attention and everyone knows there will be a climax to the story as well as a resolution. In Junebug, there was never a clear climax and resolution to the internal or external conflict the characters were experiencing. I think what made this movie so unusual was that there was never a big conflict that needed to be resolved, just a series of smaller internal and external conflicts. In a way, I feel as though the movie makes the viewer want something that just isn’t going to be there (the big conflict), and it can get frustrating. The only thing I liked about this movie was that it seemed very much like real life. It made me think about real families with real conflicts just like the characters faced in Junebug. Sometimes things that happen in real life are not very entertaining, just like in the movie. Also, I am glad someone else besides me did not like the movie.
