Junebug

After about the first five minutes of the movie I was almost sure I was going to hate it but I ended up thinking that it was a decent watch. As far as conflict resolution goes, I can understand where in Junebug, maybe things didn't happen quite as I might have thought they would. When I watched Madeleine helping Johnny in my head I felt as if there should've been sexual tension by the way they were positioned and because of the previous almost random sexual scenes that were potrayed throughout the movie. I knew that there wasn't any between Madeleine and Johnny, it just seemed as though there might have been, so when Johnny was confused by it I saw that coming within the movie. The mother interpreting their talking as Madeleine hitting on Johnny is just pure culture difference. I can only imagine what would happen if a girl that I brought home called my mother by a different name repeatedly. Especially if she wasn't what my mother expected me to be with. In some ways I can respect and understand almost every form of conflict and resolution in the movie. Even down to the point when George decides not to pick up Madeleine from Wark the artist's house. As a more stubborn male, it is sometimes easier to not do anything to help an issue. Sometimes you don't want to have to do anything. Atleast George recognized the next day how much of an issue it was to be staying there.

Junebug seemed as if it tried to portray new issues in a real light rather than a fairytale finish.
