What a dysfunctional family, representing itself as normal! I found myself wanting to smack the mother and make her be quiet so someone else could have a thought for themselves. The Dad seemed completely beaten down; Ashley really tried to have a positive attitude, which came across at first as being a little “blonde”; Johnny was mad at the world; and, Icouldn’t tell if George loved or hated his family.

I think most families are just like this one. They all have their little quirks, but we think they are all normal. After all, what is normal?

It would have been nice if the movie had been a little more detailed about Johnny’s problems. For example, was his conflict just with George or were there other conflicts? He didn’t seem to have a real good relationship with anyone in his family. The only time he was even seen smiling was at work. So, were his problems his and George’s, or just his?
